The adult program will consist of daily workshops offering a variety of activities accommodating different learning styles. It will include presentations by certified NVC trainers, individual and small group excersises, large group discussions, interactive role-plays, demonstrations, connecting games and time for meditation, contemplation and journaling. Participants work with their own real-life situations and get support from trainers and from the community on handling these situations with the help of Compassionate Communication. The program will accommodate different skill levels and parallel tracks might be offered based on participants' needs. There will be small group "empathy" sessions each day, in which participants will come together to connect to what is going on for them, faciliated by our trainers or self-led depending on the preference and level of skill of the participants. Participants will also have opportunity to work one-on-one with trainers and assistants, either during structured workshop time or by appointment. We expect there you will discover a profound sense of companionship and mutuality as your realize that as parents you are not alone. |

The true offering of Compassionate Communication in the youth program of Family HEART Camp is in the experience of meaningful community. The youth program consists of living NVC, where skills are experienced, seen and taught through example and play, more than direct NVC instruction.
Our goal is to serve our families by creating an environment that feels authentic, nurturing and fun for the youth attending it. We are committed to a high staff/volunteer to youth ratio to support more individual focus and the deepest connection and support possible. We are inspired to support each youth at their own level, learning style and interest to the highest degree possible.
As a community of youth staff, our goal is to form our family-like group of volunteers from individuals who are committed to practicing or deepening their skill with compassionate communication. These community members are also people with interest, inspiration, skill or experience working with children who can share their patience, flexibility, love, and inspiration.
Program activities may consist of the following: - Physical cooperative games and activities: acro-balance, capture the flag, soccer, hug tag, scavenger hunt, hiking, swimming, hikes, boating, yoga...
- Art projects: clay, painting/watercolor, beading, paper mache, paper making, origami, marbleizing, charcoal, macrame, finger knitting, art inspired by Andy Goldsworthy
- Science experiments: liquid nitrogen ice cream, natural ginger ale, invisible ink
- Other activities: story reading, fort building, cooking etc.
There may be a separate teen program if we have enough youth in the 12-16 age group. |
