Stacey Martino

Stacey Martino 2015

Stacey Martino has been merging arts and activism with the purpose of creating a world that works for everyone since 1988. Her journey into using the arts to build and support community began while she was earning her BFA from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she became deeply involved in the epidemic of homelessness. Stacey went on to earn her MFA at The New School for Social Research in New York. As a teacher of multiple courses of study she has been honored to teach artists, trauma survivors and those effected by homelessness over the last 16 years. Teaching this diverse population she witnessed the power of a simple and truthful narrative to connect people within community. This lead to the creation of CoActive Content, a company comprised of grassroots activists and artists committed to supporting a broad spectrum of communities through the arts. They are currently in postproduction on a series of short films directed by EMMY nominated director, Tasha Oldham about The US Department of Peace and Nonviolence initiative.

Stacey contributes to many teams focused on inclusion, community and nonviolence some of which include: board member of i-ACT (traveled on expedition # 2 to the refugee camps and assists in development of grassroots outreach plans), board member of Serve the Warrior, serving veterans effected by traumatic brain injury and PTSD and board member of Family HEART Camp, supporting diverse families and communities in the practice of compassionate communication and living.

She is a Khalsa Way prenatal yoga teacher whose prenatal meditation CD series was recently released by Bellybuds. Stacey has been a student of NVC for the last 10 years, has been a joyful participant at Colorado's Family HEART Camp and completed the Parent Peer Leadership Program based on Marshall Rosenberg's work. She, with two partners, is in the process of developing an intentional community center for families in Los Angeles and her most treasured time is spent as a wife and soon to be mother of three children.
